City Market

Photography has always had my interest. I remember 'helping' my father many, many years ago, in his dark room developing pictures, fascinated by the fact that an image came up on a blank peace of paper.

I always carry a camera with me in my hand bag, one of those compact ones. We also have a 'real' camera, but that one is mainly used by Adriaan.
A few weeks back I saw an announcement on Facebook about a photography course, going to the City Market in Bangalore, and I felt that was my chance to get to know the fancy camera a bit better and a great opportunity to take some nice photos.

I took almost 400 photos and after two rounds of rigorous deleting I now have 121 left (still way too many according to Adriaan aka Mr. Vandelete).
I have learnt a lot during the time at the market, but even more when I looked at the pictures on the computer and saw the many mistakes I made especially with shutter times and aperture. It was a great day, with an overload of information, colours and noise, so I was exhausted when I came home.

Some samples of photos that 'made it':

The first photo I took, I love how her Saree matches the flowers she is selling. I also like the rickshaw in the background.

Colourful is one label that goes with India for me.

My focus was on the colours (again), the shop keeper's focus was on me.

I like how the red and yellow brighten up the grey.

"Black and white" can be powerful too....

Grandparents?

What is he thinking about?

Hanging around the market all day... will he ever go to school?

Who said orange and pink don't go together?

What will her future hold?

This man was asleep in the middle of all the hustle and bustle. His feet tell about the hard work he is putting in all day.

These are the photos I liked best. I have lots and lots more from flowers and fruit, but I will post those some other time.
