Easter Holidays, part 3: Palace life

The car journey from Udaipur via the Jain temple and the fort to our hotel was a long one, but boy was it worth it! I had booked one night in a palace hotel, on the advise of a friend, but when we headed there, there was some confusion about which one of the two possible palaces (at very different locations) it was. Knowing our luck I suspected we were booked in the 'wrong' one (and I am still not sure if we were at the one she recommended) so I was a bit nervous when we drove up. No need, because it was the most beautiful hotel we have stayed at EVER!

On arrival we were greeted by our personal assistant. While we walked through the gate we were showered with rose petals that were thrown down from the top of the gate.

The palace was built in the 18th century and was fully restored and made into a hotel a few years ago. It has 39 suites all situated at different court yards and at different levels.
We had two suites and to get from one to the other we had to find our way through covered walkways, up and down small staircases and though beautifully decorated common areas.

Do you know that feeling of being out of place in certain surroundings? We arrived after a long, hot day, in shorts and t-shirts and entered this posh hotel...where were our tuxedos and gala dress?
We were walking around with big grins on our faces saying: "O, look at this...O, look over there!" The only thing we regretted was that we had just the one night. So, if you plan to go to Udaipur and feel like treating yourself to a great experience, you should book (more than 1 night) at the Devi Garh by Lebua hotel in Delwara!!!!
