Water

In most cases the weather is a great topic if you want to make small talk. Here in Bangalore the only thing we can say about it at the moment is: "Too warm!" Usually the next topic is water, or more to the point, the lack of it.
Water comes at a cost here. Our community has bore wells and we get water tankers in, but those tankers are ruled by a mob, with strict areas and if prices go up, you can't just get another mob to do a delivery.
Bore wells have to be drilled deeper and deeper as the ground water levels go lower and lower. The population of Bangalore keeps growing, so water shortage is a mayor problem and will only get bigger over the years.
We are expecting the water to be rationed, like last year, to a few hours a day, to make us last through the summer months.

The monsoon seasons have been too dry in the past few years so that doesn't help either.

When we drove from Udaipur to the Jain temple last week, we noticed the farm land looked dry and in desperate need of rain. Then we came across this:

A lot of hard work for some water. I wonder when the price per liter of water will be higher than per liter of petrol...might not be too far away, especially in India.
